LED for extreme low temperatures

Glamox is a total supplier of lighting, not only for products but also for light design on the GOLIAT project.

Best solution for Goliat
The Goliat platform is being built on a standard set by Norsok. The platform is classified down to -20˚C for the hull and -18˚C on the equipment. The shipyard and the end customer were convinced through light measurements in harsh environments that MAX ICE with LED is the best solution for Goliat.

LED solution
LED is not affected by the ambient temperature and gives just as much light output at +30˚C as -30˚C.  A solution with fluorescent lighting would mean to double the amount of luminaire`s to achieve the lux values in -30˚C set by Norsok standard. The LED solution leads to lower maintenance cost, less power consumption and last but not least less installation hours for the yard.

Owner and operator of Goliat
The Oil Major Eni is the owner and operator of the FPSO Goliat. Goliat will be built by Hundai Heavy Industries in Korea. The FPSO will produce oil in the Goliat field in the Barent sea and the harsh environment demands luminaires that can hold low temperatures, MAX ICE certified down to -30˚C is the perfect solution.
