New Marine Lighting publication

The Norwegian Society for promotion of good light and lighting, Lyskultur, is now publishing an updated version of the booklet Marine Lighting. Several lighting professionals from Glamox have contributed to the publication.

The fact that Norway is a nation with strong maritime traditions is well known. As a consequence, it is also a world leader when it comes to marine lighting. The booklet Marine Lighting is an attempt from Lyskultur, to compile as much of the competence from the Norwegian specialist environment as possible. The previous Marine Lighting publication dates back to 1977, so one can safely say that an update is long overdue.

Environment and Safety
The publication is in English and deals with all kinds of lighting related issues, with particular emphasis on environment and safety. Numerous examples of good lighting for various tasks and working environments aboard a vessel are described along with references to both standards and class requirements.

New lux table
At the end of the publication you will find the "Lux Table for Marine Lighting”. This is an important part of the document. It is the first time all lux requirements for marine applications have been systematized this way and it will hopefully provide a useful overview for the reader.

Guidance and references
The publication is relevant to both product vendors and installers, ship owners and marine classification companies, consultants and ship designers. In addition to providing good guidance, it also offers clear references to current standards and other literature, and is thus a useful tool for planning good lighting systems.

A hard copy of Marine Lighting can be purchased from Lyskultur’s web shop here. A digital version of the booklet will also be available for purchase later in April. Please contact Lyskultur at post@lyskultur.no if you have inquiries about the publication.
