Avondale Community College is located in Rathdrum Co.Wicklow, known as the birth place of Charles Stewart Parnell "the uncrowned king of Ireland".

Avondale Community College was originally built in 1992. Demolition work of the 1992 building began in 2002, with students moving into prefabricated buildings. The new school development work began in 2005.

The school now boast new computer rooms,art and tech drawing rooms as well as a new sportshall. There are 30 teachers working in Avondale with a total student population of 412 pupils from 1st - 6th year, which will extend to 425 students by September 2007. The total area is just over 3000m².
