Corridor lighting has the prime objective of illuminating circulation areas.
When patients are being moved, great care should be taken to avoid direct glare from the lighting. This can be done by luminaires that ”wash” the wall, ceiling mounted asymmetric luminaires, wall mounted fittings or other solutions depending on the design and construction of the corridors. Good lighting also works to give indications of direction and function of an area. For night time use corridor lighting should be controllable.
