For small-scale dimming systems
Easy to install
affordable control system components
The SwitchDim concept is based on DSI technology. Instead of using a DSI controller to transmit a digital signal to the luminaire, it uses a mains frequency as a signal transmitter. This means that when you press the switch in, you transfer mains voltage to the regulation system. After approx. 2 sec. the system begins counting sine pulses and the luminaire dims or increases each time.
Advantages
A very simple control system using a simple impulse switch as the regulator (a switch with a built-in reversing spring). Economical when the number of luminaires connected to a regulator are limited.
Disadvantages
Disturbances between the linearity between luminaires can occur. For this reason a maximum of 8 luminaires per switch is recommended. To synchronise the system the impulse switch must be held in for approx. 5 seconds once the system has reached maximum level.
Installation
There are 3 cables + an earth connected to the luminaire with one of these going to the impulse/marquee switch.
luminaires
In this catalogue luminaires suitable for SwitchDim regulation are marked HFDd. If you cannot find your chosen luminaire marked in this way, or you want luminaires with a cord switch for SwitchDim (CSD) then contact us.
