Glamox is a proud supplier to the Ship Of The Year 2019!

Glamox is proud to have supplied lighting to MS Color Hybrid, the largest plug-in hybrid vessel in the world. The cruiseferry, which is owned and operated by Color Line, received the Norwegian Ship Of The Year Award at Nor-Shipping 2019.

MS Color Hybrid was designed by Fosen Yard design and constructed by Ulstein Verft. The vessel measures 160 metres (520 ft) long, with a capacity of up to 2,000 passengers and 500 vehicles. From the summer of 2019 it will operate Color Line’s route between Sandefjord in Norway and Strömstad in Sweden. The hybrid propulsion system will allow Ms Color Hybrid to operate under battery power in the coastal areas outside of Sandefjord and by that eliminating the emission of greenhouse gases and reducing noise considerably.

Sustainable lighting
Glamox has had a good collaboration with Ulstein Verft and has supplied lighting to every area of the ship, from the passenger areas to technical rooms and outdoors. Products include floodlights, searchlights, navigation lights, technical lighting, downlights, cabin lights and more. Just like Color Line, Glamox has a high focus on sustainability and energy efficiency when we design new lighting products. Our LED luminaires consume less than half of the energy of conventional marine lighting and produce considerably less waste.
