When Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) embarked on a futureproofing of its entire Birley Fields campus, it saw the design and commercial benefits of our LED solutions as essential to its strategy. The university required a highly efficient lighting system which would generate substantial energy cost savings.
Solution
After initial design concept meetings, we designed, prototyped and manufactured a photometrically tested aluminium extruded solution. Working to a detailed specification, we created a low-powered LED lighting system to kit out almost 80 per cent of the 124,000 sq ft campus.
Result
Working with our KNX2DALI lighting control system consisting of 50 IP routed KNX lines, 110 KNX2DALI Gateways and 1700 KNX sensors and switch input units, MMU's environmental team was able to halve the load of its original lighting structure on the way to becoming recognised as the UK's most sustainable university. Our company accepted the responsibility for lighting and KNX system design, guaranteeing compatibility of all delivered products.
