Brief
A £2.7 million refurbishment program was undertaken to replace back of house systems, including the installation of a new ceiling and energy efficient lighting, as the original installation dated back to the 1980s. Our brief was for an energy efficient LED solution that could be installed into a high ceiling with recessing frame assembly, maintained from above the ceiling void, and subjected to high ambient temperature and resistant to chorine vapour. Of course, the quality of light from the new system should provide a more comfortable and inviting pool environment for customers.
Solution
Our recommendation was the I80 luminaire, an energy efficient LED solution that could be installed into a high ceiling with recessing frame assembly and maintained from above the ceiling void. The I80 boasts great light quality, can be subjected to high ambient temperature and is resistant to chorine vapour, therefore ticking off all the brief’s requirements.
Result
The pool has long operational hours, so energy cost savings maximised by the energy efficient lighting system is much appreciated by Dolphin Leisure Centre. The hardy I80’s do what they were designed to do with no fuss, providing comfortable and welcoming light, and the ability to continue doing so for many years.
