Heathrow T4 Under Canopy

Heathrow's Terminal 4 is situated to the south of the southern runway, next to the cargo terminal. Built at a cost of £200 million, Terminal 4 was opened on 1 April 1986.
In an effort to save time, energy and money 169No 250W sodium luminaires were replaced one-for-one by the Glamox Limited i80. This gave the area a number of major benefits; energy reduction from 407,000 kWhrs to 283,000 kWhrs reducing annual cost from £42K to £29K; lamp life of the i80 is >50,000hrs where as the son lamps were being changed every 10,000hrs giving considerable savings in maintenance time.

It has been calculated a payback of 1.9 years on the over all capital outlay as well as giving improved lighting levels and a better quality of light for the passengers.
