Marburg UKGM Teaching Hospital
The Giessen and Marburg teaching hospital (UKGM) was Germany's first private teaching hospital. 400,000 patients are treated every year at 80 clinics belonging to the hospital complex.
UKGM is Germany's third largest teaching hospital. The facility employs a workforce of 9,700 in a host of very different professions – a large number of medical staff, obviously, but also laboratory staff, physiotherapists, engineers, computer specialists and more.
Third construction phase – 40.000 m²
At the Marburg location, our luminaires were installed in the third construction phase, which includes the neurology and neurosurgery departments, as well as the radiology, oral surgery, dermatology and ophthalmology departments. The six-storey building has a total floor space of some 40,000 m².
Glamox C60-R clean room luminaires were installed in the clean room areas, while other recessed and surface mounted luminaires were used in corridors and stairwells throughout the building. The lighting scheme also included some decorative luminaires.
The UKGM provides a great deal of support to the relevant faculties' research areas within the medical departments at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and the Philipps University in Marburg.
