Brief
The Oxtalls Campus was earmarked for the construction of a large, impressive, new sports hall. The new building would be used by students, staff and the local community. The building would be the second largest multi-purpose sports hall in the UK, and Sky Sports would have a studio overlooking the playing area. The University required luminaires which were aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient and had an IK10 impact resistance rating. The lighting system should have the facility to be controlled and monitored easily.
Our Solution
The HI-MAX® is a very high efficiency, aluminium die-cast, high bay luminaire, with a range of light output options. The product is suitable for mounting up to 15 metres in height and for this we recommended an IK10 rated version sealed to IP65. The HI-MAX® features channelled convection cooling to enhance thermal management, which can in turn help to prolong component lifetime. Dali control gear is supplied as standard in this product range. The lighting system should be controlled and monitored using DALI lighting controls.
Result
The installation at University of Gloucester Oxstalls Campus looks fantastic. The University now has a highly energy efficient, reliable, lighting system with the level of control and flexibility that intelligent lighting controls provide. The lighting system will ensure low energy costs for many years to come.
